Should I pursue my OPM disability claim by myself?

Return to FAQs

Transcript:

You can pursue your OPM disability claim on your own. There are three parts to the application, your part, the physician part, and the employer part. The problem could be that if you don’t know exactly what OPM requires from a medical standpoint to meet disability, it may be possible that they will ask for additional information, and they’ll do that after having the claim for six months to a year. So if it works piecemeal back and forth, that you submit information and they ask for more, and you submit information and they ask for more, it could take two or three years instead of that one time if you know exactly what you’re doing.
